Priests lost everything and began to rebell. Many people began to surrender under debt.

What would happen if the government of Mexico divied up an equal amount of money to each resident?

If we were priests during this period of time in Mexico, we would be very angry over these money issues.

The Flow of Wealth

However, rich people did have enough money and did not have to surrender under debt.

Church didn't have actual money. Chruch was tied up in loans. Most people didn't have enough money to pay off their debt. Priests did not recieve as much money. Many preists began to rebell. The local priest was a powerful force. Local priests were preaching the ills of the money grabbing Spaniards.

Spain got rich while Mexico suffered.
